How do I add a condition to an interaction?

In the interaction builder choose + Add a condition, pick a variable, a comparison and a value, and add what happens otherwise if you need it.

A condition makes an interaction run only when something is true, such as "only if the learner has visited every lesson". Conditions check variables, and an interaction can have a second set of actions for when the condition is not met.

Add a condition

  1. #

Open the interaction: choose + Add interaction, or choose Edit on an existing card in the Inspector's Interactions tab.

  2. #

Under IF, choose + Add a condition.

  3. #

Choose a variable from the first list. Both your own variables and quiz values such as a score are offered.

  4. #

Choose the comparison, for example is, is not, is more than, is at least, is less than, is at most, contains or is empty.

  5. #

Enter or choose the value. For a true/false variable, pick true or false.

  6. #

Check the summary line, then choose Save.

Check more than one thing

  1. #

Choose + And… under the first condition.

  2. #

Fill in the next condition. The interaction runs only when all of them are true.

  3. #

To remove one, choose the × beside it.

Say what happens otherwise

  1. #

With a condition in place, choose + Add what happens otherwise.

  2. #

Pick the actions for when the condition is not met, for example Show layer with a "Not yet" message.

  3. #

    Choose Save.

Tip: Need a variable first? Open Course settings › Variables and choose + Add variable. See create a variable.

Conditions brought in from an imported course are kept as they were and shown as Imported condition, kept as it is.
