Widgets are ready-made interactions you fill with your own content. Learners can use them with a mouse or with the keyboard.
Insert a widget
- #
Select the slide and choose Widget on the Insert tab.
- #
In the Insert interactive widget dialog, under CHOOSE A PATTERN, pick one:
- Flip cards: learners click or tap anywhere on a card, or press Enter or Space, to turn it over and see the back.
- Tabs: learners pick a tab to show one topic at a time.
- Accordion: learners open headings to expand the text under them.
- Carousel: learners step through panels with Previous and Next.
- Card stack: learners move through a stack of cards one at a time.
- Certificate: learners see a certificate with their details and can print it.
- Click to reveal: learners press buttons to reveal extra information.
- #
The PREVIEW shows a sketch of the layout as you work.
- #
Under ADD YOUR CONTENT, type a Widget name. Screen readers read it aloud, so make it describe the activity.
- #
Fill in each item, such as the front and back of each card. Choose + Add item for more; the dialog shows how many items the pattern takes.
- #
Choose Place on slide, then click on the slide where the widget should go.
Try it
- #
Choose Preview at the right of the ribbon tab row.
- #
Use the widget the way a learner would, with the mouse and with Tab and Enter.
Widget controls such as tabs, carousel arrows and accordion headings take their colours from your course's player and theme colours, and their font from the course font. Cards and panels use your theme colours too, with labels centred and kept off the edges, so they change with the theme. To bring widgets made before this up to date, use Course look. In the editor they look the same but do nothing when clicked, so you can select and move the widget.
Tip: Need an interaction that none of these patterns covers? You can add your own HTML interaction instead; see How do I add a custom HTML interaction?.
