How do I insert images?

Choose Insert › Image, pick image files or paste a screenshot, describe each image, then click the slide where it goes.

You can add PNG, JPEG, GIF, WebP and SVG images up to 25 MB each. Xogogy asks for a description of each image, so learners who use a screen reader know what it shows.

Insert one or more images

  1. #

Select the slide in the Slides panel.

  2. #

On the Insert tab, choose Image.

  3. #

In the Insert image dialog, choose Choose image files… and pick one or more images. To use a screenshot you have just taken, choose Paste screenshot instead.

  4. #

Check the description for each image. Write what the image shows, or mark it as decorative when it adds nothing a learner needs.

  5. #

Choose Place on slide, then click on the slide where the image should go, or drag to set its size. Press Enter instead to put it in the middle of the part of the slide you can see. Several images are laid out together in a grid.

  6. #

Move and resize the image as needed. See How do I move and resize objects?.

Replace an image or change its description

  1. #

Select the image on the slide and open the Design tab in the Inspector.

  2. #

In the Accessibility section, edit Alt text, or tick Decorative image for an image that is only decoration. When the section is closed, its header says No alt text for an image without a description.

  3. #

To swap the picture, choose Replace image… on the Format tab, or right-click the picture and choose Replace image…. The file picker opens; pick a new file. The image keeps its place on the slide. To crop it or change how it fits its box, see How do I crop, fit or replace a picture?.

Tip: Imported courses often have images with no description. Run Accessibility check on the View tab to find them. See How do I run the accessibility check?.

Size and align a picture on a scrolling page

On a slide built from content blocks rather than freely placed objects, images are added one at a time. Each one goes in at Medium size (60% of the column), centred, and is selected so its settings show at once.

  1. #

Select the picture. Its settings open in Slide › Design, in the Blocks section.

  2. #

Under Size, choose Small, Medium, Large or Full, or type a Custom width (%).

  3. #

Set Max height (px) to keep a tall photo from taking over the page.

  4. #

Under Align, choose Left, Centre or Right.

  5. #

On a phone, a sized picture fills the narrow screen. Tick Keep this size on phones to keep your size there too.

You can also resize the picture on the slide: drag one of its side handles, and it snaps to Small, Medium, Large or Full width, with a label showing the size as you drag. Hold Alt for a custom width. From the keyboard, focus a handle and press the arrow keys, or Home for Small and End for Full width. Use the default size clears your choices.

Pictures always keep their proportions. Gallery and video blocks have the same settings.
