How do I copy, paste, duplicate or delete objects and slides?

Use Ctrl+C, Ctrl+X and Ctrl+V for objects, Ctrl+D to duplicate an object, Duplicate slide for a slide, and Delete to remove what you selected.

Copying and duplicating save you rebuilding the same thing twice. Every one of these actions can be undone.

Copy, cut and paste objects

  1. #

Select one or more objects on the slide. Hold Ctrl to add objects to the selection, or press Ctrl+A to select them all.

  2. #

Press Ctrl+C to copy, or Ctrl+X to cut. Copy and Cut on the Home tab do the same.

  3. #

Select the slide where the copy should go. It can be the same slide or another one.

  4. #

    Press Ctrl+V or choose Paste.

Duplicate an object

  1. #

    Select the object.

  2. #

Press Ctrl+D, or choose Duplicate object on the Home tab. The copy appears on the same slide, ready to move.

Duplicate a slide

  1. #

Select the slide in the Slides panel.

  2. #

Choose Duplicate slide from the arrow beside New slide on the Home tab, or on the Slides tab, or press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+D. The copy appears straight after the original.

Delete objects

  1. #

    Select the objects.

  2. #

Press Delete or Backspace, or choose Delete selected objects on the Home tab.

You can also right-click an object for Cut, Copy, Paste, Duplicate and Delete, or right-click a slide in the Slides panel for Duplicate slide and Delete slide…. See How do I use the right-click menus?.

Tip: To remove a whole slide, see How do I reorder, move or delete slides?. If an object is used by an interaction, check the interaction afterwards so it still does what you expect.

Changed your mind? Press Ctrl+Z to undo the last step.
