How do I import a Rise course?

Publish the course from Rise for an LMS or the web, then choose Import course… and pick the .zip. Each lesson becomes a scrolling page of blocks.

Xogogy imports courses made in Articulate Rise. Export the course from Rise as a package, and Xogogy turns it into an editable course you can change and publish with its own player.

Export the course from Rise

  1. #

In Rise, export the course for an LMS (SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004 or xAPI) or as a web export.

  2. #

Keep the .zip file Rise gives you. Do not unzip it.

Import the package

  1. #

On the start screen, choose Import course…, or choose File › Import course… if a course is open.

  2. #

    Pick the .zip file.

  3. #

In the Import course file dialog, check the Detected format. It reads, for example, Articulate Rise published package (SCORM 2004).

  4. #

Check the Project folder name and Location for the new course folder (it starts in the Documents › Course Studio folder; Choose location… picks another place). Then choose Import. A name already taken there becomes Name (2). Xogogy takes the course title from the file. To change it later, edit Course title on the Inspector's Course tab.

Large exports are fine. A package can be up to 4 GB, as long as the files inside add up to no more than 2 GB.

What each part of the course becomes

A quiz lessonA page of graded questions, followed by a results page with the passing score, attempts and review

Branching scenarios, Storyline blocks and code blocks are kept as Rise data and listed in the import report, so nothing disappears without a mention.

Courses in several languages

A Rise course exported in more than one language opens in its default language for editing. The other languages' text is kept in the project, but it is not shown or published yet and their language-specific media are not copied; the import report lists them.

Check the import report

  1. #

Select the findings count in the header to open the import report.

  2. #

Look for blocks that came across differently, such as a full-width picture shown at the width of the reading column.

  3. #

Read Fonts not in the project. Rise courses name fonts such as Lato and Merriweather without including the font files. Learners who do not have a font see a similar standard one. To pick fonts yourself, change the heading and body fonts in theme colours and fonts.

  4. #

Choose Preview and play the course through before you publish.

Tip: A Rise course always arrives as a Scrolling page course, so its pages reflow to fit phones and tablets. Xogogy publishes it with its own player; it does not write Rise files.
