How do I import a published Storyline or Captivate package?

Choose Import course… and pick the published Storyline or Captivate .zip (SCORM, xAPI or web). Use it when you no longer have the .story, .cptx or .cpt file.

Lost the original project file? Xogogy can rebuild an editable course from the package your authoring tool published: the .zip you uploaded to your LMS. It reads Storyline packages in SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, xAPI, cmi5 or plain web form, and Captivate 11 and 12 packages in SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, xAPI or HTML5 web form.

Import the package

  1. #

On the start screen, choose Import course…, or choose File › Import course… if a course is open.

  2. #

Pick the published .zip file. Do not unzip it first.

  3. #

In the Import course file dialog, check the Detected format. It reads, for example, Articulate Storyline published package (SCORM 1.2) or Adobe Captivate published package (SCORM 2004).

  4. #

Check the Project folder name and Location for the new course folder (it starts in the Documents › Course Studio folder; Choose location… picks another place). Then choose Import. A name already taken there becomes Name (2). Xogogy takes the course title from the file. To change it later, edit Course title on the Inspector's Course tab.

Xogogy looks inside the package to recognise it, so the file name does not matter. If the package sits inside one extra folder in the zip, that is fine too, and its media still comes across.

Tip: You can also drag the file from File Explorer or the Finder and drop it anywhere on the Xogogy window. While you drag, the window shows Drop to import, and the same Import course file dialog opens. Drop one file at a time.

Check the answer keys

A published package does not always reveal which answer is correct. Xogogy never guesses.

  1. #

Select the findings count in the header to open the import report.

  2. #

Look for Questions with an unknown answer key.

  3. #

Select each question listed and set its correct answer. See fix an unknown answer key.

Quizzes from a published Storyline course

  • Submit opens the course's own Correct and Incorrect feedback.
  • Submitting with nothing chosen shows the course's own message, such as its Invalid Answer text, over the slide. Storyline's pop-up window and its OK button are not recreated; the report lists them.
  • Each slide shows the Previous, Next and Submit buttons it had in the original.
  • Review and Retry on the results slide work: Review steps through the questions without changing them, and Retry clears the answers and starts the quiz again.
  • If the course reports incomplete on a failed quiz, Xogogy keeps that. See Why doesn't my LMS mark the course as complete?.

Tip: If you still have the .story, .cptx or .cpt file, import that instead: see import a Storyline project or import a Captivate project. A project file carries more than a published package does.

Published Rise courses

A course published from Articulate Rise is a .zip too, and it imports the same way. See import a Rise course for what each Rise lesson and block becomes.
