Why can't I publish my course?

Publishing needs a licence or an active early-access build, a course that passes its checks, and every media file present. The Publish dialog says which.

Choose Publish… at the right of the ribbon tab row (or press Ctrl+Shift+P). The Publish course dialog checks the course before it builds a package, and its Before you publish list says exactly what stops it.

Publishing needs a licence

  1. #

If the dialog shows Publishing needs a licence, choose Manage licence.

  2. #

Enter and activate your licence key. See activate your licence.

  3. #

Early-access builds publish without a key until the date the build ends. After that date, publishing needs a licence like any other build.

A licence that was refunded or disputed is revoked. Xogogy then says the licence has been revoked (after a refund or a payment dispute) and stops publishing and exporting packages; importing, Preview, the import report and editing keep working. If you think this is a mistake, write to support@xogogy.com.

Importing, editing, Preview, the import report and Export course data stay free whether or not you have a licence.

The course check failed

  1. #

If the dialog shows Cannot publish — validation failed, read the list under it. Each line names the place in the course and the problem.

  2. #

Close the dialog, fix each item, and open Publish… again.

A media file is missing

  1. #

If the dialog shows Package check reported problems, it lists each file the course uses but cannot find.

  2. #

Replace the image, audio or video on its slide, or put the file back in the project's assets folder.

  3. #

    Open Publish… again.

Tip: Completion isn't set up does not stop you publishing, but an LMS will never see the course as complete. Choose Set completion rule to fix it first. See set a completion rule.
