How do I test a published package in my LMS?

Upload the .zip to a test area of your LMS, launch it as a learner, leave and resume, then finish it and check the status.

Before you give a course to learners, run it once in your own LMS. It takes ten minutes and shows you exactly what your learners and your reports will see.

Run the test

  1. #

Publish the course for Your LMS. See How do I publish a SCORM package?. For a quick look first, extract the package and open its index.html from the folder; it plays without tracking.

  2. #

In your LMS, upload the .zip into a test course or sandbox area.

  3. #

Launch it as a learner, or with a test learner account, and go through a few slides.

  4. #

Close the course part way through, then launch it again. Check that it offers to resume, or resumes, on the slide where you left off.

  5. #

Finish the course. If it has a quiz, try a failing attempt and then a passing one.

  6. #

Check the learner's record in the LMS: completion, pass or fail, and score.

If something is wrong

  1. #

If the course never shows as complete, check the rule in Course settings › Completion & reporting. See How do I set when the course counts as complete?.

  2. #

If the score is missing, check that the right quiz is chosen in Quiz reported to the LMS.

Tip: Keep one small test course, such as the built-in sample, for checking a new LMS. Choose Open sample course on the start screen, publish it and upload it.
