Narration is a voice-over that plays with the slide's timeline. Xogogy shows it as its own track in the Timeline, with a waveform, so you can see where each word falls and time objects to it.
Add narration
- #
Open the slide. In the Timeline below the stage, with Base layer selected, the first row is Narration.
- #
Choose Add narration… and pick an MP3, WAV or Ogg file, up to 50 MB.
- #
The row shows the file name, a waveform and where the narration starts and ends, such as
0 s → 3 s.
If the narration runs longer than the slide, the slide's Timeline length grows to fit it. (Added from the Inspector, the Narration field also says so.)
You can also add narration from the Inspector: click an empty part of the slide, choose Slide, and use Narration in the Slide section of the Design tab. Find a setting finds it too: try voice over.
Listen and find a word
- #
Click the waveform to move the playhead there.
- #
Choose Play to hear the narration with the slide's timeline.
Time objects to the words
- #
Move the playhead to the word.
- #
Choose the cue-point button on the Narration row, or double-click the waveform at that word.
- #
Name the cue point. It appears on the ruler and as a dashed line across the waveform.
- #
Use the cue point in an interaction, or set an object's start to the same time. See add cue points.
Change the start and volume
- #
In the Narration field of the slide's Slide section, change Starts at (s) to delay the narration.
- #
Change Volume (%) to make it quieter.
Replace or remove narration
- #
To use a different recording, choose Replace… on the track or in the Inspector. The new file keeps the start and volume.
- #
To take the narration off the slide, choose Remove. The slide keeps its length.
Narration that came in with an imported Storyline or Captivate course shows on the same track with an Imported label, and you can replace or remove it the same way.
Tip: Each step is one Undo. Adding narration and the longer slide length it caused undo together.
Narration is for voice-over on a slide. Background music that an imported course already has keeps playing as it did.
