Each slide and layer has a timeline. Objects appear at their start time and stay for their duration. The Timeline sits below the slide.
Drag on the timeline
- #
Find the object's row in the Timeline. Selecting a row also selects the object on the slide.
- #
Drag the bar left or right to change when the object appears.
- #
Drag the bar's right edge to change how long it stays. Dragging it to the end of the timeline sets Until end to Yes.
- #
Press Escape during a drag to cancel it.
Type exact times on the ribbon
- #
Select the object and open the Animations tab.
- #
In the Timing group, type Start and Duration in seconds. Press Enter to apply or Escape to put the old value back. Up and Down step 0.1 second, and 1 second with Shift. Leave a box blank to remove the value so the player decides.
- #
Timeline beside the boxes takes you to the Timeline panel.
Type exact times in the Timeline
- #
Select the object's row.
- #
Enter Start seconds and Duration seconds. Times snap to a tenth of a second.
- #
Set Until end to Yes to keep the object until the timeline ends, or No to hide it after its duration.
- #
Use Always show for an object that should be visible for the whole slide.
Use the keyboard
- #
Focus a bar and press Left or Right to nudge its start.
- #
Hold Shift to move in whole seconds, or Alt to change the duration instead.
Change the slide's length
- #
Click an empty part of the slide, choose Slide at the top of the Inspector, and open the Design tab.
- #
In the Slide section, change Timeline length (s).
When you add narration that runs longer than the slide, the slide is lengthened to fit it.
Tip: Choose Play timeline to play the slide's timeline in the editor. Timeline zoom widens the time scale without changing any timing.
To read an object's timing without the Timeline, select it and open the Inspector's Animation tab: it shows Appears at, Shows for and Until end, read only. To remove a time so the player decides, clear the box on Animations › Timing or in the Timeline, or choose Unknown for Until end or Always show in the Timeline.
